Steve Stricker still can be a part of the US Ryder team

The US captain Tom Watson this week named a six member squad for the Ryder cup this year. The Ryder cup is all set to begin from September this month and will see the US and the European team fight for the ultimate glory. The current six member squad of US has some injury concerns and that is one of the biggest concerns for Watson. There are speculations on many players in the top 6 suffering from injury. Despite of the injuries the players have been selected for the championship. A team must have in total top 9 players in the squad and currently only 6 have been selected keeping a place for more 3. Watson holds the right of choosing the remaining 3 members for the squad as the wild cards. Steve Stricker was named as the third assistant captain of the team along with Watson this week.

Stricker was made the third deputy captain a week ago and it has all the chances of been selected as the wild card entry to the US team for Ryder cup. Steve deserves to be selected for the team as his current performance in the PGA championship is remarkable. He currently is 5 points beyond the leader Rory Mcllroy. The 47 year old Stricker has made all the progress in the three rounds and beaten almost all his rivals in the championship. His performance has been a noticeable one and if now his captain avoids him in selection as a wild card then for sure Steve may never get a call for the Ryder’s cup. The positive point that will work for Stricker is that the Ryder’s Points gets doubled in the PGA week and this can easily help him qualify for the Ryder’s team because of his great form.
