He reversed the outcome of the War at Kiawah Island some nineteen years ago after he won the match on the seventeenth hole.

Graeme McDowell’s decisive minute came on the four 16th, where he earned a birdie with a marvellous fifteen feet long putt that he drained very calmly before the eyes of millions. Graeme McDowell held off a major championship in the final day which includes Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and Ernie Els this year.

Graeme McDowell has now joined the prestigious club of players who have won the very prestigious Ryder Cup for Europe. This elitist club includes Sam Torrance who won the cup in the year 1985, Jose Maria Canizares in the year 1989, Seve Ballesteros in the year 1987, Mongomerie in the year 1997 and 2006, Philip Walton in the year 1995, Paul McGinley in the year 2002 and Henrik Stenson in the year 2006.

Graeme McDowell said that if you cannot handle the celebrations then to not score the goal after the 17th green was charged by Montgomerie, his supporters and team mates. He was then spotted standing on the balcony of the clubhouse with Angel Jimenez.

Jimenez was drinking directly from a bottle of Rioja while he smoked Cuban cigars while Graeme McDowell just stood beside him, with a big smile on his face. That smile said it all about then man. It looks to be seen if Graeme McDowell can continue his brilliant form in the current season.
