Dustin Johnson set to top the standings

Expert Ben Coley said that American golf pro Dustin Johnson is good enough to take on Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in the year 2013. Searching for a winner in the money list on both sides of the Atlantic, one really needs to look for a golfer who is capable of playing good on top events across the world.

One must remember that, before the success of Rory McIlroy this year, Matt Kuchar and Luke Donald had it the top position on the PGA Tour list even without winning a major title or a WGC. In fact, that being stated, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods – 1-2 in 2012, signal a danger for the rest of the pack. More importantly, given the fact that they represent more than forty percent of the book, it is clear that this duo will dominate the standings.

The golf betting markets make McIlroy and Woods the clear favourites to retain their 1-2 next year too.

Now, the question is there anyone who can catch them and beat them. Well, the answer would be yes and mainly it is because of some top venues that have yet to be played, which plays into the hands of the likes of Johnson and Mahan.

Pennsylvania’s Merion Golf Club arranges the US Open and this is a place that plays less than seven thousand yards and a par of seventy. This may suit Tiger, but on paper, it would not play to Rory McIlroy’s strength. This same thing can be said about Muirfield, which is the host golf course for the Open Championship 2013 where Ernie Els will defend his title. When Earnie did that in the year 2002, Tiger shot 81 in the third round and ended 28th.
